Cem pacientes esperam por leitos de Unidade de Tratamento Intensivo (UTI), em média, por dia, nos hospitais públicos de Fortaleza, segundo informações do diretor da Central Integrada de Regulação do Município, Messias Simões. Mas, ainda de acordo com Simões, existem somente 634 leitos de UTIs em toda a cidade, dos quais 156 são particulares e não atendem pelo Sistema Único de Saúde.
A auxiliar de enfermagem Daniele Ribeiro Sousa afirma que a mãe morreu por falta de leito de UTI. Segundo ela, a idosa foi levado ao Hospital Distrital Nossa Senhora da Conceição, no Bairro Conjunto Ceará, no último dia 13, com um quadro de febre. Após alguns exames foi constatado um quadro viral grave e a mãe da auxiliar precisava de uma UTI.
“A gente lutou tanto por essa UTI, lutou tanto. E a sensação que ficou foi de incapacidade”, afirma Daniele, que não conseguiu o leito para mãe. Segundo o Messias Simões, em Fortaleza, a prioridade do atendimento nos leitos de UTI depende da gravidade de caso e do tempo de espera de cada paciente. “Nós temos uma solicitação elevada de leitos e, em muitas indicações, nós não conseguimos fazer uma análise técnica devido a demanda assoberbada”, afirma.
Dos leitos de Fortaleza, 372 são em unidades de atendimento público, seis em particulares que atendem pelo SUS e 156 que atendem por planos particulares. A Secretaria Municipal de Saúde (SMS) informou que 20 novos leitos na rede particular estão sendo negociados e outros 20 vão estar disponíveis com a conclusão das obras do Hospital da Mulher.

União, estado do Ceará e município de Fortaleza devem apresentar até dia 28 de fevereiro um plano de ação, com prazos e procedimentos a serem adotados para resolver o problema da carência de UTIS. O compromisso foi firmado na última quarta-feira (25) em audiência de conciliação promovida pela Justiça Federal.
Participaram da reunião o Ministério Público Federal, procuradores da União, Estado e Município, além de mais 11 representantes de instituições estratégicas para o assunto. A audiência foi conduzida pelo Juiz federal substituto da 3ª Vara Federal, Marcus Vinícius Parente Rebouças.
